LaLiga 2, contested by 22 clubs, is a double round-robin competition. Each club plays the others twice, once at home and once away. Teams receive three points for a win and one point for a draw. No points are awarded for a loss. Teams are ranked by total points. If points are equal between two teams, the tie is broken by their head-to-head points, then goal difference. The two top-finishing teams are directly promoted to La Liga. Teams that finished third to sixth enter the promotion qualifiers, which determine the last promotion quota. The last four teams of Segunda Division will be relegated, and four teams of Tercera Division will be promoted. However, there can’t be two teams from the same club playing in the same league.
